Still reeling with excitement for the Obama-love

Good morning ... this is me, but it's already 6 am and time to jump in the shower. It took the last hour up to be getting the connection to work on the computer. Sheesh ... that was hard and in the end I'm not sure if what I did fixed it. It was pretty much though that I switched a netwok connection. So that being said, I'm going to take the shower now and then maybe I'll have a few extra minutes. Rich is home so I'd like to wake him up by 6:30 am so I could be with him, but he seems pretty tired. Maybe we'll just let him sleep. He's my baby ya know?

Ok, then BRB

Hmm, we're back! Maybe just a little ... I have to know let Mr. Rich sleep. That's pretty tough because I want to snuggle up against him. Hmm, if I went in there now he might say just let me sleep 9 more minutes. And that would mean I could massage his bunney bottom. Yeeks did I say that? Umm skip that line please. Next please?

We're still in our Obama mind. They are repeating the Colin Powell stories about his interviews. I guess he came out and said outright among other things that Sarah Palin isn't ready to be President and that was the job that goes with being Vice-President. I think that's going to help Obama, though there were questions on that because of Powell having told the UN that we needed to fight Iraq. It helped that he quit the Bush Administration, but there is that.

We'll have to see ... that news is being contrasted with Sarah Palin appearing on Saturday Night. Even if that now happened a bit ago, it'sstill hot.

Barack Obama is already saying that he has asked Colin Powell to be one of his advisors. Powell has told him he won't be out on the stump because he's not a politician, but it would be encouraging if he took an official or non-official role. I think I'd heard before that he put out a feeler for maybe working with Obama. Now Powell is on TV again giving an interview on his evaluation of the candidates especially through the economics crisis. He came up with Obama was the calm, steady one that really needs to get the job. He also mentioned problems in Iraq and needing to get on with that business instead of Ayers-junk. He's calling it nonsence and saying that places like the newscast Al-jaher is having a field day with all the nonsense part.

He really is very opinionated. Now he's making an issue of the Republicans stating their strategy of "going negative." I think he's really pretty perturbed with his fellow Republicans. He's really against the thought of Obama being considered a socialist just because he wants everyone to health care. He ended his statements with saying that calls are being made between him and Obama when asked if they were talking. I think that's very encouraging. I've admired Powell all along ... he seems like an intelligent practical person with a good sense of judgment. I don't know why he announced the need for the Iraq war, but I'm guessing that was something built into his role at the time, so I'm not holding him responsible for the war.

Ahh, they are making that point now ... let's see wat the pundit comes up with. They are emphasizing the contrast. AHA they are saying that he was following his role at the time. They are saying that he's going to be good with Independent figures and they are saying that between Biden and Powell that foreign policy is in much better shape. ACK now they got Palin on the screen again twice saying that Obama's experimenting with socialism. She's such a worm.

I really missed being disconnected with the news yesterday though I have to admit that periodically you'd get on the phone someone who was really into Obama and they would catch us up on what was going on. I was hearing about Powell all day. I was also impressed with how many people said they were already working on the campaign most often through their local offices. I think there were more of these people than people who said out and out no. I think there was probably people though who didn't really want to get involved in that they didn't pick up their phones. I guess that it said something about being from Obama's Chicago Headquarters. But, then again I'm inspired by how many messages we left on phones, so at least the opportunities to becoming connected were happening.

I think all in all we connected to about 700 people between the two days. It is really something to be so close to what's happening. Then when I think of all the other people making calls, I have a good sense of widdling through those 36,000 or so some people who had stated some interest in becoming involved in the process. I think this feeling is that which anyone might get from being practically involved in what they call grass roots campaign. I felt more connected with real life than ever before.

Toward the end of the night, we talked to the lady who was in charge and had been sick the day before. She was really in an overwhelmed mode and closed a little early, but that was ok, because there were just a few of us left making calls. I did ask her if there would be other opportunities to volunteer after Barack was chosen to be president. She did not want to put the cart in front of the horse, but we did get the sense that maybe something could happen. I'd really like to stay involved. I don't know how much we got into the story of connecting with the wonderful lady named Pearl, but we were really excited in meeting her and thinking that we could all along connect with others who were smart and involved.

Basically, Rich had said all along that I have to become more involved with things outside the house. Along with the gym, this is REALLY progress forward.

Ok ... better get going. I want to post this message and spend the last 10 minutes with Rich. It's our chance to snuggle him for a few moments. There's not too much time left, but every chance I get to touch him ... I'm right there!
