It's Going to Be a Beautiful Day!!

Good morning!

AHA! Back on track and feeling great! We were up earlier this morning and played around some over at school. Then I think we did just a wee bit of commenting and then talked to V. Who would have that I’d find another nut up at 3 am, just mozying about!?? It was Providence I tell you, Providence! After that though, we went through a period of pain and confusion, so decided to go back to bed. We’d been up for about three and a half hours. When we got up we decided we better take our medicine and shower, so we could get back to Office Max.

We had picked up “fixer-upper” stuff and as well a new, relatively cheap chair. When my father and step-mother died 3 years ago, we’d been given their kitchen table and chairs that have served as my computer desk. But the chairs were old and now the fourth one has broken. Most often the glue holding the arm together alongside the peg and nails pull apart. I don’t think they were expected to last the 18 hours per day I sometimes put them through. They are within fixable range if I were more handy, and might some day be, but for now, we figured we were in the market for a chair that would work and be comfortable. Wallah! As you see before you … isn’t she a beaut!?? The guy helping us was a bum and gave us too much static on loading the box which was a smidge too big for our car if you were going to put minimal effort into trying. We told him we would get help and come back for it. But, I don’t know when our friend will be available. So our plans are to go back as soon as our hair dries. Take the chair out of the box and load her that way. I’m very certain it will work, though not so certain how much static the store is going to give us. We’re preparing to do everything ourselves. But, the chair will have to stay in the car until our friend can help us get her up the stairs. There are disadvantages to living 3 flights up!

I figure will give ourselves another ½ hour or so to write before we do all that. Then after we get back it will be straight school work. Hmm, well that’s what we are thinking at least. I figure that we’ll go out visiting again toward this evening as a reward for good work done. We are going to want to finish the comments owed at school (four), then read/review the next five chapters for this week by the end of the day, and then tomorrow write the first paper due for the week for Monday morning posting. That gives us the week to finish the second paper, hopefully by Friday, so we can start the cycle off freshly. Good thinking, right?

Hmm, just spent another 15 minutes over at school. Reviewed the paper we had submitted although it seems long, I still like it J If anyone is interested in our school things, you can find them over here at our Masters’ Blog. Again, it will be another 3 months that we’re talking about multi-cultural issues. This one we were given two major tasks. The first was a scenario where a very poor Mexican American father and family had come into “our” clinic because he was having psychological issues. But, the main thing was there wasn’t a valid interpreter, so we had to analyze that situation. The second thing was that they’d given us a small chart of common characteristics of different cultures and we were supposed to related to the list comparing it to people we knew and then look at that more closely. It was kind of a neat exercise really. We’ve decided definitely to be thinking through the assignments again rather than an ethically challenged view of handing in previous assignments. We got a lot out of this last one.

Again though, it took a system. The text had already been highlighted, so we taped a 45 minute session on each chapter as we reviewed the notes and highlights, then we played the tape and jotted down the most relevant notes, then we wrote out all the questions the assignment was asking, then we divided our notes into the different questions, so we could write a paragraph on each, and then we actually wrote the assignment and edited it. Still quite the process, but I’m being encouraged now heavily by Dr. M. to do something very close to this because of the memory problems. He seems to think the more often I go over the material using different mediums, the better able I will be in not only retaining the information but forming good markers. It seems to be mostly about that … leaving ourselves some kind of flag, so we don’t forget the thoughts.

I think that our eventual end product is something quite unusual. We are guessing that because of the detail we put into the methodological part that our responses are going to be considered very comprehensive. That doesn’t bother me a bit! When we were over at Gabreael’s yesterday, we noted that she had talked about Karma and some of the values it held. There were a couple that stuck with me. One being you will get as much out of something as the effort you put in and energy expended comes back to you in kind. That’s the same logic we’re using now … figure we better be a smiley person before we find ourselves in an old folks home without the ability to receive in others’ smiles. And, we’re pretty sure; we’re going to be by then in the habit of God Blessing those fussidy nurses!

Hmm, ok, well it is obvious that by now one of us is stalling. Spose its time to get ourselves in the next high gear. Umm, maybe one more smoke. AHA! A special invitation in the email from TJ!!! Yayyyyyyyy, we’re going to share in the excitement of “The methodicals” as a team member! Feelin pretty darn special at this very moment! *Sigh* life is good!
