Just a regular morning recap ...
Good morning. This is me again. We’re showing a little more resistance to being up and atom for the day, but we’re doing better than expected. We just spent the last 15 minutes waking up Rich. I feel bad for him that he has to get up, but in total he did sleep about 30 minutes longer. Hmm, this is news. He just got out from the bathroom and said he was going to grab an extra 2 hours of sleep.Whew! My baby must be tired! It’s mostly because he was out so late. He brought Jon home last night and he might have stayed over for dinner. I didn’t check the clock when he came in, but he was pretty stumbly. He turned off the TV and put up my glasses and such. Then too he’s complaining about being sick for the last couple of days.
*Sigh*
Poor Rich … I feel bad for him. He thought because his daughter and sons seemed to pick up something too that it was some kind of food poisoning from the dinner they ate. Not sure where he was at with this thought now … just that I got a finger-tip kiss because he said he was too tired. That’s not a good sign! I’m glad he’s going back to bed for a bit. Leaves me being the responsible one though. I’m going to have to get ready and get out of the door WITHOUT his help so he can be proud of me.
So, we’re drinking coffee to beat the band.
Now as to where we’re at. I think we left yesterday after Rich came home? No, I see he was off the phone. I remember him coming in and we talked for a few minutes about the selective mutism. Rich being Rich generalized it to it was something that he or anyone could have. So we said, uh-huh, uh-huh. That’s pretty much the way we figured he would think or react. Rich isn’t one to really bounce into new problems unguarded. Hehehe … poor Rich … he’s so tired. We didn’t push yesterday, because it wasn’t worth the effort. We figured it would come up again, but we’d allow him the comfort of his spontaneous reaction. We were happy at the time that we got him to sit down and listen and that we had the notes in front of us so we could “recall” what had been stated as the traits.
Hmm, that was relaxing. Missy stopped by as her meowy self, but we got this down to a science. First she’ll be on the floor and take turns with my hands pacing back and forth. And then eventually, she’ll follow my lead and come up on the table where she’ll pass back and forth some more. And, then she’ll finally lay down in front of me for a good pet, which is usually broken in two parts. The whole thing takes about 10-12 minutes. By the time she’s finished with me we’re a little on our drowsy relaxed state and she’s feeling fine with no meows left in her for a little bit.
I have to meow at myself though it’s already time for a shower, brb.
Pswhoo. That’s done and over! We checked in on the scale too. We’re at 258 … That’s a new all-time low!!! WooHOO!!
I guess that part can lead us into the next. Basically, after we got done talking to Rich yesterday we left for the gym. We’d already been dressed nearly an hour before anticipating the next time we could feel as strong as to just walk out and do it. We carried that thought through. Rich helped this time which means there was no taking enemies … we moved through it though there was a bit of a frowny face. *Sigh* Can’t win them all.
After we got out the door we started turning things around slowly. There was no doubt that after we got down to our car, we wouldn’t carry through. There’s always that worry though that the pool is going to be filled. I don’t know what we can do about that except leave ourselves some time in case we have to wait in the whirlpool or sauna. Neither option is poor. As it was – there was space in the pool. We had to move around a couple times as people were getting in and out, but we were able to do the walking straight through. We upped it by 2 lengths, so walked for a grand total of 64 lengths. We told Rich back and forth and back and forth and … well you get the idea.
We felt pretty good through most of it. There wasn’t any thought we would cut things short, instead we just plowed through it amazing ourselves with how good the water felt up against us. It was a smooth feeling to reach out your arms with hands dipped below the water and direct them in a forward motion as if we were doing a butterfly. They cross a little in front of ourselves, but pretty much straight forward.
I think we swam next to a couple of different people in the semi-mixed lane next to us and sometimes we swam in that lane … It feels a little deeper in the middle, so that’s an extra good workout for us. Afterward we went into the sauna and there were about 7 men in there already – no females. But, there was a spot for us at the end and we stayed brave. We stayed in there until all the others had left and new people had come in. We just wanted to make sure we weren’t any more a wussy than the next guy. Between all of our moves we took a standing shower in the area between the sauna, whirlpool, and regular pool.
That seems to be the tradition. And, then we went into the whirlpool. Again, it was filled with men, but there wasn’t anything I
could do about that. We were set and established as going on to the next thing and the next.
After we did that we were feeling kind of warm. We didn’t want to start swimming again, but we got in the pool and hung out on the side. We just floated on our back for about 5 minutes. It felt very, very nice and comfortable and we weren’t in anyone’s way. Everybody knows everyone’s business because there are just not a lot of places to be looking while you’re in one of these areas, but pretty much everyone keeps to themselves and the feeling is that you’re in there with as much heart as the next guy. I feel if I just keep moving forward people aren’t going to look down on me for weighing so much. I think they note it, as well as the ill-fitting swim suit, but people then move on to their own regime. Good stuff.
There’s one guy that I have seen at the pool for about 3 times in a row. He’s a 30-some person – one of the younger guys and he does laps. I don’t know if he recognizes me, but he might, because some of the time he hangs out at one end of the pool resting before getting out after his laps are finished. Most the people though we’re not recognizing. Sometimes one older person blends in with the last. There were a couple of women there though that we’re in the pretty overweight category too, but they were both built more solid, than I appear with some of my skin starting already to be a little flappy. I don’t know what to do about that except to live with it as being a sign we’re losing weight and the hope that the gym and swims will help tighten it up.
I didn’t do much after I got home from the swim. Rich had gone out for some groceries while we were at the pool and we both met up downstairs and I helped him with a couple of things. We stayed out in the kitchen with him and watched him prepare a relatively quick dinner. He had to heat up some already cooked and coated BBQ ribs, then he steamed some corn on the cob in the microwave and he had gotten me a small container of potato salad, which is a favorite of mine. Then of course, we made Rich and us a Margarita.
We talked while he prepared and then we ate out in the kitchen as we had our breakfast. I think that Rich is appreciating that we spend too much time now eating in front of the TV. It was a nice dinner … we talked about things in general. There was some time afterward … so we laid on the couch next to Rich and got a little message … WOOHOO!!! Apparently though, we didn’t hear the call, but Maury rang the bell, so there was a quick dive to get dressed and let him in. He felt a little bad about not getting through to give us more warning, but it worked out ok. Rich had to get going though after listening to him for a bit. Maury seems to enjoy now a camaraderie he has with Rich in talking about poker. I think it’s pretty cool.
After Rich left, Maury and us talked some more. He had gotten off work a little early. He did something, but I don’t remember what it was now. I do know that he’s going to get a router next and then move us onto the next phase. I think he was going to stop at best buy on the way home. Rich didn’t have the $60 sitting around, but Maury was able to cover us until he brings it back. He said next time he should be able to get something up and running. I’ll look forward to that.
After Maury left, we had a couple of fudgicles and then spent most of the rest of the night shifting between one show and another. We’ve been getting into the late 200 number channels … which include the history channel and the military and others. It seems lately we’ve been getting into crime reality things and things involving death – mostly murders. I’m not sure why we’re doing this, but it seems to satisfy ourselves as we switch between one channel and another getting the jist of things.
There was one other show too about people who had survived death situations … that follows our general trend of things lately. We also was watching a show called something like the Dog Whisperer. We thought that was highly interesting.
We fell asleep around 9:30 pm until Rich came home and turned things off. I don’t remember staying up for more than a second, and we could tell he was in tired stealth mode. Then was then and now this morning is this morning. We’d gone in about 5:30 am to check on Rich and did about 15 minutes of message and then that gets us to the beginning of this post.
Again he’d gotten up to go to the bathroom, and then he went back to bed. We’ll give him a smooch on the way out, but pretty much now it is time we have to go.
I regret that I can’t stay here and do my writing, but I know Rich is right … if I’m going to take off a couple days two weeks from now, I gotta get in and do some regularity. Hopefully, we’ll feel better either on the way in or after we get there. Bye for now!
