We were in Lenovoland
Good morning … this is me. I’m starting a little bit late this morning, but we’ve been working hard to get caught up in our thoughts. We’d gone to H&R Block and found out we were only getting about $1500 back, so we’ve been trying to work through our dilemmas in not having quite enough money. We’re waiting now for a sales person to call us back from Allegiance Technology Partners about the Lenovo Thinkpad x200 7449F9U.It’s got a whole lot of stuff … here I’ll show you.

It’s pretty cool, hmm? I’ve done about a days worth of research into it to find the best computer and deal for the money and I’m really sure this is the one I want to go with … It’s bared 2 completely separate searches and still comes back to the same machine. Problem is that it costs $2200 and I’ve got $1500. I could scare up a couple more hundred if I have to which would enable me to put down 75%. I just got the tech person on line this morning … the sales guy is supposed to call me back.
The tech guy clued me into that they have a lease program, but I don’t know what qualifications you need – like will it have to be ordered through a business.
Maybe within the next hour he’ll call back … it’s hard to wait … everything seems focused in our obsessive way of shopping toward getting it. And, don’t think I haven’t noticed that 9x5 next business day service. I could get a lesser machine ordered through another company, but it doesn’t have the bells and whistles this one does. This has got the extra camera, 4 Gb Ram and 2 Gb Turbo memory, plus 160 Gb hard drive. It’s also got the docking station so that means I’ve got capability to be watching DVD’s. It’s got the AT&T card and WI-FI built in along with Bluetooth.
The fingerprint thing is something extra I don’t really need, but the other big thing extra is that it has an 8 cell battery that is supposed to last about 7 hours. And, this one comes with a 3 year warranty and hopefully an operating system for XP.
It’s about an inch wide, the screen is 12 inches and it weighs under 4 pounds while still having a full keyboard. Very cool stuff! One more real important thing is that it’s supposed to be real good outside. That’s going to be real important since this all started around being able to be on Rich’s boat with a writing machine. I also want it to double up service at work. I very much often grab my yellow legal pad on the way out of my door because I’m in so many meetings that I need to take notes. And then when I go see the DSPs I am in a position of needing to take notes, especially for changes in the goals. I also use the legal pad for working out new situations like when the other I was working on the figures for the program notes from Group 1. I don’t go into any group without a notebook. This would take the place of all that. I can’t tell you how helpful it would be.
I also see myself using it around the living room when I’m curled in a corner reading or watching tv. There is a lot of times I would prefer taking notes in my own handwriting. It is a lot less clumsy to have something to the right side of you or face front so you can get comfortable or be holding a book.
I spent a lot of time at the site of the Internet tablet sales. I watched a video on OneNote. I know I’ve mentioned this program before, but it is really something … I would make sure I have it here too. It’s ideal because of the writing abilities of the program.
Oh man … now we are fearful … we just talked to Howe from Allegiance. He wasn’t able to give me a lot of information, but he confirmed that they had someone they worked with in a lease program. He’s going to send me the form within about an hour. I’m going to have to fret a bit, because I’m going to have to go through credit approval. That’s not one of my forte’s. I think what I will do if it doesn’t go through is ask Rich to do it. He usually doesn’t do this kind of stuff, but it would be more than a couple thousand dollars as a business tax credit … so that could be advantageous. I don’t know how much extra you would be paying on a lease … we have to wait and find out about all that once we handed in the lease and IF we were accepted. It’s a 36 month lease …
I would check into getting some of it paid off more quickly. Either that or I would look to pay down a few things so I could be making payments on it. I could pay Athletico, school, Dell, and Kohl off for about $1000. That would save me a couple hundred a month in payments. The other nice one would be if I could pay down would be the gym. Hmm, that is interesting … if I paid down the balance until September 21 2010, I would save almost $200 and then not have to be paying $50 a month. I would have to be more committed, but that’s just a partial issue. The pay-off is $757.87. I would also pay the $500 I owe Dell, the $100 I owe Kohl’s and the $100 I owe Athletico. That brings me to $1350. I think then I would pay the balance of about $150 to Capella off a $350 or so balance, which would take it down to $200. They are not asking for more than $50 a month and getting rid of the other 3 would save me payments of $150.
So, basically I’d be down a couple hundred and instead probably paying around $75 for a lease. Computers aren’t worth much after 3 years … so I’m sure they sell it after the lease pretty cheap, or I just give it back … we’d have to see how much and if I qualify … that’s a real big if. The gym deal is if I paid the $757 then at September 21, 2010, I would only have to pay $9 a month. It’s a really good deal. The problem at this very moment is that I have to print it out and fax it which means it will wait until I go back to work tomorrow. I sure hope it won’t be painful and they will let me know if I’m accepted in short order. I think this could be a real not going to happen because of the credit, but I’d like to look at it optimistically.
Man do I like that idea of paying off the gym and those few other bills. I realize I will still owe a couple thousand out, but it would be the way to go. I would also like to check on the Dell printer to see if I can get someone to take a look at it.
