Holding our Own
(V ... if you are reading this could you test my comments again?)Good morning. This is me. It’s still early. Not way early … just a little early. It’s 5 am. About 20 minutes ago we said good bye to the fishyman. No, nobody got thrown out or anything. Just he had some serious fishin stuff to do. He’s going to be gone for 5 days. Pswhoo … I sure am going to miss him. I’m thinking he wouldn’t appreciate if I ran over to Bob’s to see if he’s left yet. We already got several extra kisses. Would look like he doesn’t have his woman in control. No, that wouldn’t be a good situation. He’s going to be fishing with Bob and I’m pretty sure he’d get harassed for not having his woman in order.
Guys … what can you do with them?
Chief is taking full advantage of the situation. He made me get up and give him a cool drink of water out of the sink. Don’t ask … as I said … guys … Now he’s asserting full male dominance of the house. Yes, that’s right he’s laying between my arms with back against my chest. Yah … he knows where his bread is buttered. I think he and Rich have a little competition thing going for my attention. As soon as Rich turns his back and sometimes before Chief tries to get in HIS time, but as soon as Rich sees it … he’s trying to push the cat away to be having HIS time. It’s a battle and one way or another, I just know that I’m going to be petting someone. *Sigh*
The bigger someone left a note for me … it says water the flower – AT 6:30 am. sheesh … can he do that – steal my 6:30 am time? Thinking it be nice actually to get another hour of sleep … do we dare?
Pswhoo. Ok, that was intense nappin. We’re back now and we’ve been in the shower, taken our medicine, packed our bag and gotten dressed. Yup that’s about it. Still got a little yawny in us. Don’t think it can be avoided though. Hopefully while Rich is gone we’ll get to bed early and not TV veg out on him. I’m a little concerned though … we haven’t watched any news for like three days. Not sure what is up with that.
Hmm, had to adjust the music … it had been playing and something affected the music server, but we’re good to go again.
We’re still listening to Corinne Bailey Rae. I think that is part of the problem listening to news – the music has been so good. I did find though that if your trying to encourage yourself in the gym that you need to go back to a more seriously upbeat Coldplay to get the job done. HMPF!
We’re not into heavy-duty thinking this morning. Our day was pretty average yesterday. We had another staffing. It went fine.
We’re finding the major key to keeping it low key is to not have sister there. She claims to be too busy to sit in on the meetings. This last one we had to talk about a client who’d been passing sexual notes back and forth to a peer. It had been intercepted and needed to be dealt with. That’s never fun. But, we encouraged that was only one part of the meeting and we went on to cover other parts that were more positive.
I thought I was going to have another meeting today and it needs to be assured, but I believe the meeting is now going to be held on the 16th. It’s hard sometimes to keep track because you have to set the date with the CSO person, then call the parent, then call the CSO person to confirm, and then closer to the date you need to confirm again with the parent.
Fortunately, the CSO people remember better than not. And, sometimes it is good to call them if things get confusing. When you are doing this for 22 people all in about 4 months … well, you could see where there might be trouble. Then just as often as not … someone has a time conflict and then the process has to be gone through all over again. It’s a hassle, but the Q’s job to make sure everyone is where they are supposed to be. The one nice thing is that all the meetings are at the center and that’s very nice.
Hmm, I think there is a meeting coming up that involves Holly. I better see that she’s there … just have to figure out which person has her … has to do with her having some of the financial cases. Blah.
Ok, enough thinking of that. I was trying to get some business done and in the process did something for Rich. We looked at 6 of his case files. We did his paperwork for him so that felt good. He saw that it was up on my computer when he came in and he asked why we had it there. We told him honestly that we thought it would look good for sister to have some of them done. I wasn’t sure how he’d take that, but he felt appreciative. I felt good that I could help in a small way.
I’m not sure if I wrote of it the other day, but in a conversation with Sister Florine, she suggested that they might get rid of Rich, but Sr. was afraid that I might lose me too. My first out loud reaction was … YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT! I’m thinking that it was something that Sr. Theresa said to her out loud and she was just checking it out for her. We came back a little softer, but for the most part we explained to her that we’d come in with Rich and probably go out with him … He’d been our boss starting 15 years ago and he was the give and take between Sr. and all else. Often he’s been the voice of reason and the one to go toe to toe with Sr. and even out some of her bumpiness. Rich always stays supportive of sister and is the much calmer one between the two.
Hmm, ok enough there … don’t want to get out of sync with it.
One of the other things that happened yesterday is that we got the candy bar sale on again. Every year I buy at least one box of candy. It’s about $50 … I’d be hard pressed to confess what has happened to most of that candy over time, but I knew it had to happen differently this year. So, I bought the box and then figured that maybe Joe could make use of it. So, I called him and he said ok … so I went out to see him and drop off the candy before the gym. It was a long drive, but I was really happy to be seeing Joe in the middle of the week while he was at his dojo – we came in about 30 minutes before his class so that was great. We watched a couple of u-tube videos of people doing a new weapon for Joe … He was working on this three way mid-length rods. It was like stick, small chain, stick, small chain, and then stick once more.
After he watched a few videos … he went out to practice them in the dojo … we sat down by the mirror to watch him. It was very good stuff. He talked throughout about what he was thinking as he moved the sticks around in quick succession. I was very happy. And, then about 5 minutes before class started his other teachers and a bunch of little kids came in. It was pretty cool, but we figured he was busy … so we snuck our smooch and got out of there.
We talked to Rich because it was already late, but he encouraged us to go to the gym, because he was just going to the grocery store and had to pack his bags. As it was we came home just as he was finishing that up, but it was after 8 pm. I can’t believe I stayed out that late. The gym was crowded at this later time. I could see where they make their money. I still got onto equipment though had to wait for some of the circuit training machines.
We did pretty good. We did 22 minutes walking and 16 minutes on bike. Especially the bike was very hard. But, we had already set the machine and didn’t want to kop out. The remarkable thing of the night was all the “big guys” upstairs on the machines. There was a group of young Spanish males like about 5 who were on equipment and would just hover on it between rounds. It made it a little more difficult. There was always some piece to be on, but we had to jig-saw back and forth form one thing to another. I just didn’t see the purpose of spending a lot of time waiting to start-up again. I have this philosophy that if a piece is going to wear someone out that bad, they are lifting too much … It really slows down the gym, and I’m not sure how many sets they are doing on each of the machines. Enough to camp them down … sheesh!
There weren’t too many girls up there, but we hung tough. Just acted as if we had our own business which didn’t include any of them. We smiled appropriately and grimaced even more than that as things became tough. But, I’m doing good with my numbers and that matters. On some of the equipment – weight that had been hard before is that much easier. GOOD ANN!
